Stephen Fields, SJ, is a visitor to Campion Hall from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where he is Associate Professor of Theology. 

His research interests include metaphysics and the philosophy of religion, historical and systematic theology (especially nature and grace), John Henry Newman, Karl Rahner, Hans Urs von Balthasar, and recent papal thought. See his full academic profile via the link to the left of this page.

Publications include a recent study, Analogies of Transcendence: An Essay on Nature, Grace and Modernity (The Catholic University of America Press, 2016) and Being As Symbol: On the Origins and Development of Karl Rahner’s Metaphysics (Georgetown University Press, 2000), in addition to many articles, op-eds, and reviews. 

Prof Fields holds degrees from Yale, Fordham, Oxford University, and the Weston Jesuit School of Theology. He has been an ordained priest in the Society of Jesus since 1986
