The LSRI Joins United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA)

Campion Hall is delighted to hear that the Laudato Si’ Research Institute (LSRI) has been granted accreditation to join the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP).

This is a significant milestone and a well-deserved recognition of LSRI’s ongoing contribution to research addressing socio-ecological issues. Established in 2019, the Institute is unique in its transdisciplinary approach to socio-ecological research, which actively seeks to include the wisdom of religious traditions and marginalised voices, particularly those in the Global South. The Institute currently operates across a number of research clusters in fields as diverse as political ecology, sustainable agriculture, and endangered languages.

As a UNEP-accredited organisation, the LSRI will be better positioned to engage policymakers on a global stage and to share new insights and perspectives from its research. Nick Austin SJ, Master of Campion Hall, commented: “It’s a great honour for the Laudato Si’ Research Institute to be granted this accreditation by the UNEA. More importantly, it’s a wonderful new opportunity for the Institute’s research to influence global actors at the highest level, as we work with others to foster care for our common home, this shared planet on which we all depend.”
