About

Felipe is a Catholic priest for the Archdiocese of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro. Before embracing his priestly vocation, he pursued a degree in electrical engineering at the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), state of São Paulo. During his undergraduate course, he undertook research in information theory and was invited to be an academic guest at the Bernoulli Centre of the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, in 2011. He was also invited to be a peer reviewer of the IEEE Transactions on Communications.

After graduating and working at a major engineering company in Rio, in 2014 he entered Rio’s Catholic seminary, where he studied philosophy (B.A.) and theology (S.T.B.), offered in association with the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio (PUC-Rio).

For five years, he taught philosophy and theology at courses offered by the seminary in partnership with the archdiocesan institute of religious studies. The courses were held in different parishes, mostly in deprived areas. After his diaconal ordination in 2021, he assumed pastoral duties at the parish Nossa Senhora Aparecida (Our Lady of Aparecida), in the neighbourhood of Ilha do Governador. He was ordained priest on May 7th 2022 and was appointed vicar of the same parish, where also assisted one of the auxiliary exorcists of his archdiocese.
