Campion Hall hosts a Jesuit alumni event and welcomes Jimmy Burns to talk about his new book

On Tuesday 20th October 2015 Campion Hall welcomed Jesuit alumni for a talk by journalist and author Jimmy Burns about his new book, "Francis: Pope of Good Promise," just published by Constable/LittleBrown in UK and St Martin’s Press in the US in hardback and ebook.

One of the constant features of Jesuit communities is their fluidity. As we begin a new academic year, this feature is certainly in evidence at Campion Hall. We welcome to the Hall community three new Senior Research Fellows with a wide range of expertise. Not only do they bring considerable background in their various fields of teaching and research, but they also bring a commitment to the community life of the Hall which marks one of its strongest aspects. 

Fr Dan Mai, SJ - DPhil graduation

Congratulations to Fr Dan Mai, SJ who graduated DPhil at the Sheldonian on Monday 14th September.

His doctorate was 'Sustaining Family Life in Rural China: Reinterpreting Filial Piety in Migrant Chinese Families' and was completed under the Division of Social Sciences.

He now hopes to produce a book based on his reseach. 

Oxford Alumni Weekend - Saturday 19th September

The Hall took part in Oxford University's Meeting Minds: Alumni Weekend on Saturday 19th September, 2015.

Fr. James Campbell, SJ, hosted tours of the hall for alumni of the University, giving them a taste of the Jesuit mission in Oxford and the range of depth of the intellectual apostolate of the Society of Jesus.

This was the first time the Hall was part of the Alumni Weekend and we look forward to welcoming more visitors in the future. Ple

Campion Hall taking part in Oxford Open Doors - September 2015

Campion Hall welcomed guests and visitors for tours of its unique building as part of the Oxford Open Doors weekend which is the country's largest heritage open days event.

Now in its eighth year, the weekend offers the local community and the visiting public the opportunity to explore the city free of charge and in recent years the Hall has attracted around 500 visitors.

English Language Summer School 2015

Fifteen Jesuits from twelve different countries participated in this years Jesuit English Language Summer School (ELSS) at Campion Hall, Oxford, an annual course organized by the British Province for Jesuits who want to improve their English skills. The four week long course was offered at the pre-intermediate, intermediate and advanced level.
