Catholic Social Teaching On The Streets - Fr Charles Plater SJ 150th Anniversary Conference

2nd September 2025 marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Charles Plater. Plater devoted his life to promoting awareness of Catholic social teaching based on the encyclical Rerum Novarum (1891) and encouraging action throughout the Church to tackle poverty and its causes. He was Master of Campion Hall from 1915-1921. The conference provides an opportunity for reflection on Fr Charles Plater’s enduring legacy and on the present impact of Catholic Social Teaching in the UK context, and in the light of a new papacy with Pope Leo XIV.
