Student Scholarships

Campion Hall is seeking to attract lay research students who see their studies, not merely as a stepping stone to a career, but as preparation to make a contribution to the greater good. Can you donate and help provide bursaries and scholarships for up to eight lay students, so they can share in a unique academic-religious community while studying for a mission-oriented career? These students will be the leaders of tomorrow who, grounded in the values of Jesuit humanism, will contribute to a deeper understanding of what promotes a more human society to the academic world and beyond.

Research and Teaching Posts

Campion Hall supports posts in collaboration with Faculties and Departments in the University of Oxford. These posts combine Campion Hall’s Jesuit ethos of service through research for the greater good with the excellence for which Oxford is known worldwide.

  • Pedro Arrupe Research Fellow in Forced Migration (three year post). In collaboration with the Refugee Studies Centre at the Oxford Department for International Development and the Jesuit Refugee Service, this post supports research and teaching in the field of refugee studies and forced migration more generally. The research contributes to the work of NGO’s and faith organisations working on the front line with those who have been uprooted from their homes.

A £1.5 million endowment will secure this.

  • Departmental Lectureship in Modern Catholic Theology. Campion Hall is proposing to fund fully a five-year Departmental Lectureship in Modern Catholic Theology in the Faculty of Theology and Religion, to begin in Michaelmas Term 2021. The Lecturer would teach undergraduate and postgraduate students and conduct independent research. The post would enrich one of the world’s most important centres of theology with a greater strength in Modern Catholic Theology and contribute to the research mission of the Hall.

A £1.5 million endowment will secure this.

Heritage and Building Fund

The main building was constructed nearly 100 years ago by celebrated architect Edwin Lutyens, with parts of the building older still. Part of the unique life of Campion Hall is living in a historic building whose ‘spirituality’ supports the ethos of the Hall.  Necessarily the upkeep of the Hall and grounds is a significant cost. Campion Hall’s art collection is also an important part of our spirituality and ethos. The historically important collection communicates the international and outward looking Jesuit ethos.
