
Dr Tim Myatt
About
Tim Myatt completed a BA in Human Sciences at St Anne’s College, before taking a MPhil at the Oriental Institute, and competing his DPhil in Tibetan & Himalayan Studies at Wolfson College. His research focused on Anglo-Tibetan relations and he has published numerous academic papers and books on the subject. Occasionally he tries to speak Tibetan.
Tim was the first Secretary General International Seminar of Young Tibetologists, has given lectures at the Royal Society for Asian Affairs, Royal Asiatic Society, and Royal Geographical Society, and is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries.
Tim was Operations Director for Oxford Risk Analysis and Research for seven years providing consultancy to Government Departments and the Financial Services Industry. Later he was Digital Partnerships Manager at the Pitt Rivers Museum, before becoming Deputy Director of Marketing & Communications, and then Head of Special Projects at a global membership organisation. He has served as Senior Librarian and Trustee of the Oxford Union, trustee of a London museum, and is Chair of Governors of a local school.
As Bursar Tim manages the Finances, HR, H&S, Operations, and Maintenance of the Hall. He is a member of the Senior Leadership Team, and sits on the Art Committee, Ecology Committee, Finance Committee, Operation Committee, Estate Bursars Committee, Planning Sub-Committee, and was made a Fellow of the Hall by Special Appointment in 2024.
