Revd Alexander Bailey, CO
About
I am a brother of the Oratory of St Philip Neri (York) reading for an MPhil in Patristics. Born in Birmingham, I read Theology at Oriel College, where I completed a dissertation on 2 Baruch under the supervision of Professor Hindy Najman.
I am particularly interested in the Latin Fathers of the Fourth Century. I am keen to continue exploring the interaction between liturgy, aesthetics, ecclesiology and doctrine. I am also interested in the modern reception of early Christian thought, particularly by John Henry Newman and Twentieth-century resourcement theologians.
At the moment, I am working on liturgy and liturgical space in Augustine’s Confessions under the supervision of Professor Carol Harrison.
